Travis, here are 4 important tips to help you:
1. Choose references who can best speak to your skills that match with the qualifications in the job description
2. Contact the reference explain your fit for the position and ask your reference if she could speak favourably about your fit
3. Send an email thanking your reference for helping you and include your resume cover letter, the job description and a most importantly, a “friendly reminder” bulleted list of your successes that you hope she could speak to in her reference call.
4. References are like gold so thank each reference after you complete the interview and be sure to let them know how t,hey were helpful when you land the position.
