Career Professionals volunteer to help Canadians through Covid Job Loss

The shutdown of non-essential services to control the spread of COVID-19 has resulted in  the job losses of more than three million jobs in April, 2020.

Unique in Canada, a small team of Independent Career Professionals are volunteering  to lead a nationwide initiative to help unemployed Canadians

Modelled after CBC’s Cross Country Check-up, each week, participants can join Career Search Zoom In, without charge to get their questions answered about career discernment, job search, resume writing, interview preparation or negotiation.

“These are critically important skills needed by job seekers, in one of the most competitive job markets we have seen in decades,” says, Wayne Greenway, Anchor Host for Career Search Zoom In.

Each week, a different independent career professional presents on a topic vital to those conducting a in a job search or trying to find their new career direction. Several other independent career professionals are also on line to answer questions.

“Numbers are growing each week and the Career Search Zoom In is becoming a meeting place for Canadians who have lost their jobs as a result of COVID 19, says Greenway

Participants will also leave each Career Search Zoom In with a concrete method designed to help them stay mentally strong in their job search through COVID 19.

Reaction has been very positive: “The session was so informative, I gained a lot of ideas as to how I could properly position myself for best results…” says Memory Nkomo, a recent participant from Calgary, Alberta.
